The SHOR Ministries Program
The program of Shepherds’ Haven of Rest provides access to spiritual retreats for pastors, staff members, and their wives. The retreat times can be scheduled through SHOR. The focus is on rest and relaxation, solitude with God, and Biblical guidance. The retreats are informal in nature. Our goal is a relaxing atmosphere conducive to physical rest, spiritual reflection, and quality time for husbands and wives.
Private accommodations for each couple are provided without cost and meals may also be arranged. These accommodations are located in different areas of the United States to allow easy access for ministry couples. Meals depend on the location chosen and the availability of providers.
We believe in God-called ministry. We believe that the vast majority of those who respond to God’s calling do so with a depth of commitment. They enter the ministry with vision, excitement, and expectation of serving the Lord and making a difference in the lives of people. However, these are difficult and demanding days for those who serve in the local church. The normal load of ministry is time intensive and taxing in itself. Physical, emotional, and spiritual demands often override all normalcy of daily living and effectiveness in ministry. Thus, the need for retreat and renewal.
